Kate Ceberano
While strictly not Jazz, Kate Ceberano’s performance last year at Jazz in the Vines won the crowd over. Never before have we seen the crowd respond to an artist as much as they did to Kate, nor an artist respond as much to the audience! We have since been inundated with emails and comments from everyone asking for her return. Who am I to argue? By popular demand it is our pleasure to have Kate Ceberano back at Jazz in the Vines in 2011.
Kate Ceberano has been an Australian entertainer and sweetheart since the '80s. The Melbourne native started her career (and got her first taste of success) as the fresh faced singer of pop-funk act I'm Talking. The band landed five top 20 hits, including Do You Wanna Be?, which peaked at number eight on the charts, and Ceberano picked up a variety of industry nods, among them, Best Female Vocalist at the 1985 Countdown Awards and Best Female Singer at the 1985 ARIA Awards.
Although the band eventually broke up, Ceberano was only starting her climb to the top. The Filipino/American/Australian singer branched out with a solo album, and the first single Bedroom Eyes, made her a star. For those who don't know her music, you probably recognise her from various television roles. Ceberano showed off her dancing prowess by winning Seven Network's 2007 Dancing with the Stars competition and was also a contestant on It Takes Two.
Twenty-seven years into her career, the pop star has released 18 albums, sold over a million records in Australia and achieved six platinum albums and four gold records.
